
On August 28, 2013, Cummins Inc. of the United States and Chongqing Machinery & Electrics Co. Ltd. (CQME) signed a series of cooperative agreements in Chongqing. Under these agreements, a new high-horsepower diesel engine platform will be introduced into Chongqing Cummins Engine Company. The cooperation also includes the construction of a new manufacturing base for high-horsepower engines and the establishment of a research and development center dedicated to high-horsepower engine technology. This initiative lays a solid foundation for Chongqing Cummins to grow into a leading base for advanced high-horsepower products and technologies in China.


Mr. Yu Gang, General Manager of Chongqing Machinery & Electrics Co. Ltd. (CQME), signed the cooperation agreements with Mr. Ed Pence, Cummins Global Vice President in charge of high-horsepower business, and Mr. Wang Hongjie, Vice Chairman of Cummins (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and General Manager of High-Horsepower Engines and Customer Support. More than 100 people, including Mr. Weng Jieming, Member of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, leaders from Cummins, the Chongqing Municipal Government, Chongqing Machinery & Electric Group, as well as executives and employee representatives from Chongqing Cummins, witnessed this historic and solemn occasion.
