Neoenergy is committed to providing comprehensive solutions and complete value packages for marine users worldwide, offering main and auxiliary engines for marine applications. The high-horsepower, low-emission K Series marine engines manufactured by Chongqing Cummins received widespread acclaim at the 20th China International Maritime Exhibition (Marintec China 2019). Recently, Chongqing Cummins showcased its marine engine research, manufacturing, and service processes to visiting media.

As Cummins’ first heavy-duty and high-horsepower engine manufacturing base in China, Chongqing Cummins is a pioneering Sino-foreign joint venture in the Chinese internal combustion engine industry. It has evolved into an outstanding production base for high-horsepower engines in China.

Producing diesel engines ranging from 11 to 50 liters, with power covering 185 horsepower to 2500 horsepower, these engines have played a significant role in various fields such as power generation, marine applications, construction machinery, oil fields, and railways. They are widely installed in Chinese main engine factories and exported to global markets.

Since Cummins designed and manufactured its first engine for marine applications, the company has consistently maintained a leading position in the marine application market. Cummins engines are extensively used in nearshore engineering, passenger and cargo transport, entertainment, and fishing applications in maritime environments.

Mr. Zhao Liujun, General Manager of Chongqing Cummins, stated, “In 2019, the 100th anniversary of Cummins, the company has steadfastly adhered to the vision of ‘unleashing innovation, achieving customer success.’ Chongqing Cummins has always prioritized customers, delivering genuine value and earning lifelong trust.”

Chongqing Cummins’ current marine engine products are based on Cummins’ classic N and K product platforms. While optimizing economic efficiency and emissions, the company continues to build a new generation of marine engines on the foundation of reliability and durability. These engines are widely used in various ships as propulsion main engines and marine power generator sets. Their outstanding power, economic efficiency, reliability, durability, and safety have gained unanimous recognition from Chinese and global users.

Mr. Gao Xiaofeng, Industrial Market Sales Director of Chongqing Cummins, introduced, “Chongqing Cummins inherits Cummins’ excellent genes, actively supports the national call for ‘Blue Sky Defense’ and ‘Green Mountains and Clear Waters.’ On January 9, 2019, we became the first manufacturer in China to receive the China Stage I emission certification from the China Classification Society.”

Chongqing Cummins closely collaborates with mainstream international classification societies, ensuring that all models meet their standards and specifications. The company has obtained type approval from classification societies such as BV (Bureau Veritas), CCS (China Classification Society), NK (Nippon Kaiji Kyokai), RS (Russian Maritime Register of Shipping), as well as project certification from ABS (American Bureau of Shipping), DNVGL (Det Norske Veritas Germanischer Lloyd), KR (Korean Register), IRS (Indian Register of Shipping), and BKI (Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia).

Chongqing Cummins adheres to the same product technical quality standards and after-sales service standards as Cummins globally. The after-sales service support for products exported to the global marine engine market is fully integrated into Cummins’ global warranty and user support system.

As the starting point for Cummins’ localization production in China, Chongqing Cummins has been committed to becoming a world-class manufacturing supply base for high-horsepower engines since its establishment. Under the guidance of the national strategy “Made in China 2025” and with the strong support of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Government and both shareholders, Cummins invested approximately CNY 1.5 billion to establish the Chongqing Cummins High-Horsepower Engine Technology Center and Production Base.

The completion of the new base will enable Chongqing Cummins to achieve green and intelligent manufacturing, becoming a world-leading high-horsepower engine manufacturing base.

Mr. Guan Rong, Chief Engineer of Chongqing Cummins, commented, “The new research and development center and base will make it possible for Chongqing Cummins to localize the planning, research and development, and production of low-emission, high-performance marine engines for the global market, bringing more value to our customers.”

In the current economic climate of increased uncertainty and downward pressure on the macroeconomy, global maritime trade momentum is further slowing down. However, due to national macro-policy regulation, the introduction of emission regulations, market adjustments, and industry integration, the domestic marine engine market still maintains a stable momentum. “In the new situation, opportunities and challenges coexist. Chongqing Cummins will always adhere to a market-centric approach and customer-oriented principles, better meeting customer needs, supporting partners, and achieving mutual benefits for all,” said Ms. Xiong Ying, Head of Cummins’ Marine Business in China.

Cummins initiated its business in the Chinese market as early as 1975, making it one of the first multinational companies to enter China. Cummins has long been committed to forming strategic alliances with large Chinese enterprises for mutual development. Currently, Cummins has a total of 30 institutions in China, including 16 joint ventures.

As a global leader in power, Cummins designs, manufactures, and distributes diverse power solutions worldwide. With over 600 distribution outlets and more than 7,600 dealers globally, Cummins provides products and services to customers in over 190 countries and regions.
